JinJing
began gymnastics at 5 years of age. Because he was very
active as a child and his mother wanted to put all that
energy to good use, Jinjing was sent to Shi Sha Hai Athletic
School for gymnastics training.
From that moment on, a star was born.
In 1985, 8-year-old JinJing was selected by Beijing Gymnastics
Team to start formal training . He began competing in state
competitions and won numerous gold metals. Everyone was
amazed by just how naturally talented he was at such a young
age. He beat many well-known veteran gymnasts in major competitions,
and demonstrated grace and sportsmanship like a true champion.
Jinjing's talents captured the attention of the Chinese
National Team. In 1989, 11-year-old JinJing became one of
the youngest gymnasts ever to become a member of the Chinese
National Team. During his 15 years on the national team,
Jinjing has won a silver metal in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic
Games, five World titles, numerous Asian gold medals, and
countless national medals. (Please refer to Gymnastics
Awards for complete information.) From 1997 to 2000,
Jinjing was also the Chinese Team Captain, as well as the
All-around champion for 5 years straight. He's considered
one of the best gymnasts in the world, and certainly the
best in China.
Currently Jinjing is working with talented young gymnasts,
in hopes of one day soon producing Olympic and World champions.
